Brother Jake Thibault

Priest of Standing Rock

Br. Jake is living under the hermetic spirituality of Blessed Charles de Foucauld. He is the great (+11) grandson of Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys,  foundress of the Congregation of Notre Dame of Montreal. Br. Jake graduated with a degree in religious studies and philosophy from Stonehill College, a masters degree in theology from Providence College and also attended the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley, California. Br. Jake received a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts School of Law and became a member of the Massachusetts bar. Br. Jake also possesses an MBA from Bryant University. Since 2009, Fr. Jake has acted as the chaplain of the chapel and is currently involved in work with the Rhode Island State Council of Churches. He has been involved in the Standing Rock movement and fighting for aboriginal rights. Br. Jake is currently working as a professor of Law and  Ethics at Johnson & Wales University and a PhD candidate at Salve Regina University in Global Ethics and Corporate Responsibility.  Br. Jake is a licensed clergy member through the International Council of Community Churches for 2017 and has completed 30 hours of training through Rhode Island's DCYF in Trauma Informed Permanence Safety in 2017.  Br. Jake is a foster parent since 2017.
