Father Jakob Lazarus Thibault
Fr. Jakob-Lazarus is living under the hermetic spirituality of Blessed Charles de Foucauld. He is the great (+11) grandson of Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys, foundress of the Congregation of Notre Dame of Montreal. Fr. Jakob graduated with a degree in religious studies and philosophy from Stonehill College, a masters degree in theology from Providence College and also attended the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley, California. Fr. Jakob received a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts School of Law and became a member of the Massachusetts bar. Fr. Jakob also possesses an MBA from Bryant University. Since 2009, Fr. Jakob has acted as the pastor of the parish and is currently involved in work with the Religious Coalition for Marriage Equality and the Rhode Island State Council of Churches. He has been involved in the Standing Rock movement and fighting for aboriginal rights. Fr. Jakob is currently working as a professor of Law and Ethics at Johnson & Wales University and a PhD candidate at Salve Regina University in Global Ethics and Corporate Responsibility. Fr. Jakob is a licensed clergy member through the International Council of Community Churches for 2017 and has completed 30 hours of training through Rhode Island's DCYF in Trauma Informed Permanence Safety in 2017. Fr. Jakob is a foster parent since 2017.
